Recently, a ZF the gearbox of Dongfeng Tianlong was overhauled due to bad teeth, which was caused by not changing oil for a long time.

  • The Tianlong has run more than 500000 kilometers. In terms of power configuration, the Dongfeng Renault dCi11 engine is matched with the ZF 16 gear manual transmission. This fault is the damage of the fourth gear tooth of the transmission countershaft. The total overhaul cost (including man hours, accessories and gear oil) was 3400 yuan.
  • XCMG, a dealer of ZF accessories, said that the gear box is generally damaged by the third gear, because the third gear is in the middle of the shaft and the stress is more concentrated. This time, the damage to the gearbox is the 4th gear of the countershaft, which is also in the common range. Such problems are not very bad, and it is not difficult to deal with spare parts.

  • Once these two bearings are damaged, it will bring a really bad situation: the input shaft kit, including a shaft, high gear teeth and a set of high and low gear synchronizer, may be damaged, and the consequences are quite serious. If they are all replaced, the price is not low. Therefore, each overhaul must replace two brand-new high and low gear needle bearings.
  • Change the oil on time and recognize the specification of gear oil
  • ZF officially stated that the oil change cycle of the transmission is one year or 100000 km. XCMG said that according to the actual domestic vehicle situation, it is recommended to change the oil at about 80000 km, that is, generally, the engine is maintained twice and the transmission is changed once. (the engine can be maintained synchronously with the gearbox after long oil change)

  • ZF gearbox uses 80w90 gl-4 gear oil. Note that GL-5 cannot be used because the gear shift block of the transmission is copper, and the GL-5 oil contains additives such as manganese, which will damage the copper block. A barrel of ZF special gear oil is 16L, 500 yuan, and about 400 yuan of non special oil is added in other places.
