Main classification

The special mechanism mainly includes the power take-off device, the front and rear support of the mixing cylinder, the reducer, the hydraulic system, the mixing cylinder, the manipulation mechanism, the cleaning system, etc. Its working principle: through the pick-up device to take out the power of the car chassis, and drive the variable pump of the hydraulic system, the mechanical energy into hydraulic energy to the dosing motor, the motor then drive the reducer, by the reducer drive the mixing device, to mix the concrete.
Power take-off device
The main vehicle engine is used to take the power of the domestic concrete mixer truck. The function of the power take-off device is to take out the engine power by manipulating the power take-off switch and drive the mixing cylinder through the hydraulic system. The mixing cylinder rotates positively during feeding and transportation to facilitate feeding and mixing of concrete, and reverses when discharging, and cuts off the power connection with the engine at the end of the work.
Hydraulic system
The engine power taken out via the extractor (generally rear mounted full function extractor) is converted into hydraulic energy (displacement and pressure), which is then output via the motor as mechanical energy (speed and torque) to power the rotation of the mixing drum.
Reducer
Decelerates the speed output from the motor in the hydraulic system and transmits it to the mixing drum.
Operating mechanism
a. Controls the direction of rotation of the mixing drum so that it rotates in the forward direction during feeding and transport and in the reverse direction during discharge.
b. Controls the rotational speed of the mixing cylinder.
Mixing device
  • It mainly consists of the mixing cylinder and its auxiliary support parts. The mixing cylinder is the concrete loading container, it is made of high quality wear-resistant thin steel plate, in order to be able to automatically load and unload the concrete, its inner wall is welded with a special shape of spiral blades. The concrete moves along the spiral direction of the blades during rotation and is mixed and stirred in the process of continuous lifting and turning. During feeding and transporting, the mixing cylinder is turned forward and the concrete moves inwards along the blades, while during discharging, the cylinder is turned backwards and the concrete is discharged outwards along the blades. The rotation of the mixing drum is ensured by a hydraulic drive. 

  • The loading capacity is 3 to 6 cubic metres. For concrete mixer trucks with a loading capacity of 3 to 6 cubic metres, the hydraulic pump is driven by the car engine through the power output shaft, and then the hydraulic motor is driven by the high pressure oil. The blades are the main components in the mixing unit and damage or serious wear will lead to uneven concrete mixing. In addition, the angle of the blades, if not designed properly, can cause the concrete to segregate.
Cleaning system
The main purpose of the cleaning system is to clean the mixing drum and sometimes also to mix dry material during transport. The cleaning system also serves to cool the hydraulic system.
Enclosures
The fully enclosed unit uses rotary sealing technology to seal the inlet and outlet of the mixer, which solves the problems of water evaporation, mortar layering, concrete spillage and safety.

Maintenance and repair of Howo Cargo Truck

As a transport vehicle, the concrete mixer truck must be maintained and repaired in accordance with the provisions of the Ministry of Transport’s Order No. 13 of 1990, which stipulates the maintenance system of “regular inspection, mandatory maintenance and repair as appropriate”. Under this premise, the actual situation of concrete mixer trucks should be combined with the maintenance and repair. In terms of daily maintenance, in addition to the regular maintenance of the engine and chassis of the vehicle, the following maintenance work must be carried out on the concrete mixer truck.

Cleaning

As concrete can set hard in a short time and is corrosive to steel and paint, washing the concrete adhering to the concrete storage tank and inlet and outlet after each use is a serious daily maintenance task that must be carried out. This includes

  • Flushing the inlet with water before each filling so that the inlet remains wet during filling.
  • Filling the water tank supplied with the truck with cleaning water while loading.
  • Rinse the inlet after loading to wash away any residual concrete in the vicinity of the inlet.
  • After unloading at the site, rinse the discharge chute and fill the concrete storage tank with 30-40 L of cleaning water; keep the concrete storage tank rotating at a positive and slow speed during the return journey.
  • Remember to drain the concrete tank before the next loading.
  • Thoroughly clean the concrete storage tank and the area around the inlet and outlet at the end of each day to ensure that no cement or concrete lumps are stuck.

All of the above work can cause great problems in the future if not carried out carefully at one time.

Maintenance

If this part stops working due to a fault, the concrete storage tank will not be able to rotate, which will lead to the scrapping of the concrete in the vehicle, or in serious cases, even the whole concrete tank will be condensed in the tank, resulting in the scrapping of the concrete mixer truck. Therefore, the reliability of the drive unit is an issue that must be given high priority in use. To ensure that the drive unit is intact and reliable, the following maintenance work should be done.

  • The universal rotating part is a fault-prone part, it should be greased on time, and the wear and tear situation should be checked frequently and repaired and replaced in time. The fleet should have a spare universal shaft assembly to ensure that once a failure occurs it can resume work within a few minutes.
  • Ensure that the hydraulic oil is clean. Concrete mixer trucks work in a harsh environment and must prevent sewage and mud from entering the hydraulic system. The hydraulic oil should be changed regularly according to the requirements of the operating manual. Once the hydraulic oil is found to be mixed with water or mud during inspection, the hydraulic system should be stopped immediately to clean and replace the hydraulic oil.
  • Ensure that the hydraulic oil cooling device is effective. To regularly clean the hydraulic oil radiator, to avoid the radiator is blocked by cement, check the radiator electric fan operation is normal, to prevent the hydraulic oil temperature exceeds the standard.
