10-Speed Transmission Shifting Manual

Gearbox Type: HW10, HW19710, HW19710T, HW13710, HW15710, HW18710

For all gear shifting, stepping on clutch twice. For example, firstly step on clutch to bottom, then move speed from 1st to Neutral, loose clutch; secondly step on clutch to the bottom again, then move speed from Neutral to 2nd.
When the shift from the low-speed range to the high-speed range (5th speed to 6th speed), firstly switch the valve on lever from “L” to “H”, then step on the clutch, move speed to Neutral, release the clutch, then step on clutch again, move to 6th speed.
Do not perform the speed-jumping operation in low and high range shifting, like from 4th speed to 6th, or 7th to 5th speed, otherwise, it will damage the deputy box synchronizer.The deputy box only switches to the range selected when the speed is Neutral.
When the vehicle speed is higher than 30km/h, do not shift from high to low range speed.

12-Speed Transmission Shifting Manual

16-Speed Transmission Shifting Manual

1. There are two Neutral positions, move the lever left or right to select range, double H mechanism would shift speed rang from 1-4 to 5-8.

2. Each speed has two conditions, low and high, like 1H & 1L, when the lever is at 1st speed position and air switch is at “H”, then the speed is 1H, when the switch is lower at “L”, then it is 1L.

Condition 1# When starting the vehicle, N to 1L, sequence is as below:
The lever is at Neutral on left position, air switch is at Low. Step on clutch to bottom, move lever to 1st speed, release clutch.
Condition 2# When moving speed up, from 1L to 1H, sequence is as below:
Move air switch on lever from L to H, then step on clutch to bottom, then release clutch. Now it is 1H.
Condition 3# When from 1H to 2L, sequence is as below:
Move air switch from H to L, then step on clutch to bottom, then move knob to 2th speed position, now it is 2L.
Condition 4# When moving to upper range, from 4H to 5L, sequence is as below:
Firstly move air switch from H to L, secondly step on clutch to bottom, move lever from 4th to Neutral Left, slide it right side to Neutral Right position, release clutch. Thirdly step on clutch to bottom again, move lever to 5th speed (howo truck parts catalog pdf), release clutch.

3. When the vehicle speed is higher than 30km/h, do not shift from high to low range speed.

Shifting process is controled by TCU automatically(also driver send out shifting request), it can decrease fatigue strength and increase driving comfortable obviously.
In any processes of shifting, the indication sign of gear position on the instrument panel will flash.
The following information will display on the instrument:
Current operating position of gearbox.
If ▲ flashes in the process of shifting, it means Gear-Up;
If ▼ flashes, it means Gear-Down.
AMT operation state (Auto/Manual operating mode; Dynamic/Economical Mode; Climbing)
The HW20716A-series gearboxes provide two operation:
▼Auto-mode, the control is automatically completed by the control system.
▼Manual-mode,directly under the driver‘s Control.

Auto-mode (A-mode):

The Auto-mode is the operation mode defaulted by the control system. In the auto-mode, the driver selects the startup gear only by the shift lever. The startup gear position includes the forward gear, reverse gear or neutral gear. In the process of driving, the gearbox control system will automatically select the most suitable gear position depending on the current situation. The driver may also interfere with the shifting operation by the handle in the Auto-mode (howo sinotruk parts catalog pdf).

Manual-mode (M-mode):

In manual-mode, any of shifting actions has to be delivered by the driver, who decides the shifting moment and gear selection, but the clutch will complete the relevant actions under the system control, i.e. during the startup, shifting and stop, the clutch coupling and disengagement are performed automatically.

A/M Function selecting

The driver is able to achieve the auto/manual-mode shifting through the handle button. The screen on the instrument panel will display in realtime, the current operation mode of gearbox. The operation mode defaulted by the system is the auto-mode.
The driver may switch over the gearbox operating mode anytime during the course of startup and drive.

In the auto-mode, the operation method of manual mode shifting is given as below:
Press the button on the shift lever. When the operation mode displayed on screen is M, it indicates a successful shifting.
In the manual -mode, the operation method of automode shifting is given as below:
Press the button on the shift lever. When the operation mode displayed on screen is A, it indicate a successful shifting.
